Guysssss, can you believe this is the first official jean jacket I’ve owned as an adult?! If you’re like me, you may be thinking “sis, forget the jacket, let’s get into this skirt and bralette!”. But I’ve got to say, it is truly the denim jacket that brought this look ALL the way together.
I’ve always admired from afar- never committing to owning one of my own because I thought “eh, I already have these other coats, why should I get one more?” (trust me, I go through bouts where I can be almost TOO rational). So for years, peacoats and leather jackets have always been my go to when wanting to layer up.
Moreover, the denim jacket is a fashion piece as old as time and so for a while, I was struggling with validating this purchase and making something I’ve seen everywhere authentically my own. Finally, this struggle brought me to this outfit combo and the first time in a while I am wearing a denim jacket!
Today, I decided to pair this classic piece with a bralette from Victoria’s Secret (bought for $5 during their semi-annual sale!!!) and a silver satin midi skirt also from H&M. It’s a simple outfit that does not break the bank and perfect for the slightly bipolar London weather (although I would consider this look for any geographical location). Pairing with booties not only completes the look, but emphasizes that you did not come to play.
And walah, the seamless outfit that screams both effortless and captivating. This is exactly the vibe I try to embody especially when abroad. It took me living in London to realize why a denim piece is a must have – practicality! I bought this classic blue-wash to get more cost per wear.
Plus, the layering options make me ready for anything. Sightseeing in Westminster? No problem. I could be photoshoot ready in front of Big Ben and alllat. Want to meet up with me at the bar? Bet. I’ll sling my jacket over my shoulder and it’s “how you doin’?” Ultimately, my advice is as you think of ways to pair your denim jacket, picture it as a classier hoodie. Casual, chic, and the perfect addition to nearly all your outfits in this early fall season.
